Tomorrow, something special is happening that you *might* or might not know about…
Okay, drumroll please:
Thursday marks the first day of Fall!
And that means that this weekend kicks off the start of one of Roanoke’s prettiest seasons. Festivals. Fall harvest-parties. Leaf-peeking. Finger-licking good food. I’m ready, you guys!
This is shaping to be a fun and busy weekend in Southwestern Virginia. Here are a few events and activities I’m considering getting into, in the spirit of all things Autumn …
Parkway Downtown — Library Square, Downtown Salem — Friday, September 23, 5-8:30 p.m.
I love the fun energy building around Parkway Brewery’s attempt to take their craft beer — and their relaxed vibe — into a public space in downtown Salem. The green spot just outside the library will be abuzz with cheery Fridaygoers this week, with live music from The Judy Chops and food from Long Fin Grill. No admission charge; family-friendly.
Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina — Lane Stadium — Saturday, September 24, 12:30 p.m.
Once upon a time, I used to be the girl who never missed a game. These days, I’m busier than I’d like, but there’s no place I’d rather be this Saturday than tailgating and cheering on my favorite college football team, with few of my favorite people.
Tickets are still available at the link above. Start jumping, VT!
Jeter Farm Fall Festival, Opening Weekend — Jeter Farm & Country Store — Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Fall couldn’t officially start without a trip to a pumpkin patch, a corn maze and a barnyard … And if there’s a hay ride and some fresh kettle-corn in the mix, all the better! I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I’ve never made it out to Jeter Farm, so I’m looking forward to trying something new! Check the link above for hours and FAQs, bring your $8 admission (which includes a pumpkin, by the way!), and meet me there for some cider!
Wondering what else is going on this weekend? Here’s just a little taste …
First Fridays with Fuzzy Logic — Franklin between Jefferson & Williamson — 5-9 p.m. — 21+ ($5 admission; $5 beverages).
Downtown Roanoke Harvest Festival — Market Street — 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Free Admission)
R7S Read Mountain Hike — Departing from Public Works Service Center — 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($6 – Register by 9/22).

J.J. Grey & Mofro at Harvester Performance Center — Doors open 7 p.m. ($29.50+)

Can’t wait to hear what *you’re* getting into … If you’ve got the downlow on something special, share!!
Have a great weekend, friends!!
